There is much to be expected for 2020. We have an important choice ahead of us, films like Mulan and Legally Blonde 3 are being released and new beauty trends to experiment with. When it comes to trends in hair color 2020, it's all about individuality. Actually, anyone can try these shades and styles, regardless of hair type, color or texture. It's about figuring out what's right for your unique look, and working with your hairdresser.
We talked to Dove stylist Mark Townsend for his opinion on some of the hottest trends of the season. Townsend is best known for its cool girls on laid-back waves and figure-hugging pops against celebrities like the Olsens (Ashley, Mary Kate and Elizabeth), Dakota Johnson and Jodie Comer – just to name a few. And he sees how those open hairs (including pony!) Reach into the new year.
"I really love that we see a large number of personal styles when it comes to hair. Take a trend like choppy layers. Women talk to their stylists about finding the right layers for them based on face shape, hair type and texture, "he says of Stylecaster. "Pony will be big for all hair types in 2020 as well, including curly hair."
"There are so many styles of pony fringe, curtains and gussets – talk to your stylist about what kind of pony will frame your face in the most flattering way," he continues. Townsend also loves the return to voluminous, full hair – especially at the crown. He likes to use dry shampoo on the root and massage it through the hair, which provides buoyancy. It's not just for dirty hair. "Dry shampoo helps to separate the hair, which leads to more volume," he says. The Dove Ambassador favors the brand Care Between Washes Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo ($ 4.88 on Amazon).
As far as color is concerned, Townsend sees these soft pastel shades gluing around. "It's something anyone can do, but it's not a total obligation to use the dye that is leachable," he says. We love Overtone Color Conditioner ($ 29 at Overtone) and Uberbliss Bond Sustainer Color ($ 19.99 at Amazon) to get the look in a variety of color tones.
If you're looking for something more natural, Townsend says paint will have a ton of dimension in 2020. "Rich shades of brown and blondes with honey and caramel highlights can be found everywhere and add dimension and shine," he says.
I guess I'm just jumping in early.
To maintain the color and prevent it from fading, Townsend uses Dove Color Protect Shampoo ($ 3.49 for Target) and Conditioner ($ 3.49 for Target) for its customers.
